duplicate content
if i have 2 sites with several pages that are the same:
1) do both get indexed or is 1 tossed out? 2) do both count as internal links? 3) is there a penalty or redection in PR against 1 or both sites? 4) if pages are identical - only 1 will be displayed in search engine results? thanks all |

Duplicate Content.
hi losangel27,
As far as my experience and understanding says there should not be two sites with similar pages. Quite possible initially both the sites will be indexed!! Then google spiders will toss or ban permanently both the sites. am i correct members??? best wishes wizard_rd |

It's a good idea to stay away from duplicate content when you can; however, if they have different layouts and it's just a page or two that's similar you should be fine with Google. There's a reason that you can still find lyrics sites on it.

Google allows mirrors; it just doesn't supply listings of all the mirrors in the search. One will be listed and the other will be in never-never land until the site that is listed is either banned or taken down.
