Doorway pages method is this a waste of time?

I have thought about this for a long time and have wondered wether it was just a waste of time or actually worth the effort in taking out.

Basically I thought og taking one page "lenticularproducts.htm" which is optimized for one keyword "lenticular" and try and incorporate the keyword lenticular as much as I could into the body copy with the copy still making sense and informative. I then thought of taking the same page "lenticularproducts.htm" and duplicating it calling it "lenticularproducts1.htm" but instead of optimizing this page for lenticular I would optimize it for the keyword "hologram" and have this page optimized for hologram. Thought of making 5 different product pages basically with the same content except each page being optimized for a different keyword.

This way a visitor has 5 different keywords he/she could use to reach the same page, increasing my chance of getting my site ranked higher.

I guess you could call this doorway pages, but instead of the doorway page containging spam it actually has useful content with links to the rest of the site.

Is this a waste of time, should I just optimized the original page "lenticularproducts.htm" for 5-10 keywords and leave it at that?

Any thoughts would be appriecated>

It's not the waste of time. Many reputable companies do this.

If you put a useful and unique content there -- you won't violate SEs' guidelines.
