Question Domain Forwarding with Masking
Here is my situation:

My main website is mydomain.com and I have built a separate website in a subdirectory of that domain let's say: mydomain.com/newsite

I have registered a new domain mynewdomain.com that is pointing to mydomain.com/newsite subdomain with masking enabled.

What is the 'correct' way to do SEO for that new domain that is forwarding to the subdirectory?

Will it show up in search results as a subdirectory, or will search engines use the new domain as the URL?

I think you can redirect visitors to your subdomain by using htaccess url redirecting rules. any request for yournewdomain.com will be directed to yourdomain.com/subdomain
