Do Internal Links Pass On Equal Pagerank as External links?

    Hi all
Do my internal links pass on link juice as much as external links?
My homepage is Pagerank 5 and I have linked directly to all my internal pages?
That should make my internal pages pagerank 3.
That is assuming that internal pagerank is passed on internally
Anyone know if i am wrong?

Not sure why you think your internal pages would have a pagerank 3. Google have never to my knowledge said how much juice is passed, However internal pages do indeed pass on juice.
This is a old post but still valid in my opinion. http://www.wordstream.com/blog/ws/2010/07/15/ and an intersting read.

Its one of the reasons I do like breadcrumbs, it creates a natural pyramid of juice back to the home page.

The amount of juice is the only debate: If you have a lot of links going out (external or internal) the amount of juice available is spread across those links.

    Yes thanks,
I have around 60 page rank 4 links and 6 pr6 linking to my homepage. that makes my homepage a pr5 according to every pagerank table on google. so then there is a direct link to all my other pages from the homepage. one pr5 link makes a page a pr3 accordin to each and every table.
That is my ignorant thinking. Very stupid I know but that is how the page rank tables make it appear.

Why are you so worried about page rank? Google killed public page rank. It is likely still calculated in some fashion and used within Google algos, but it is no longer updated or offered in new installs of the Google toolbar.

does it not matter anymore? I thought it did as all the link sellers base their prices on pr. is it not of any use? I thought links were the main ranking factor.????

Google stopped updating it for the purpose of the tool bar...only..So no one would know if the linking site had any punch or not..Why ..because people would misuse the system..Links with hi pr still kick ***.
and thats all I'm going to say about it.

thanks for that. I have also noticed that it takes absolutely ages for changes in serps now. When I started in 2007 new links were credited within 4 days. Now seo guys say "add new links then wait two months at least" and I find they are right. Is this simply because the web is so much bigger or is it because google wants to make gaming the system harder? Probably both. I add new hot links drop out back for what seems like an agge (yes i am obsessed and watch every little change every hour hence why it seems forever. But I am glad you said PR still counts. After all to get a high pr that site needs good links itself.

I think do not just consider only Page Rank for link juice, as Google not updating it since long time. Few other metrics which really need to consider are Domain Authority, Page Authority, domain trust and Moz rank. So if your internal links is having higher value in these metrics your home page will have more Authority.

Internal links get same page rank like the external get. But make sure that you don not add too many links in home page because Google has created some criteria of maximum links in one page.

yes I might have made that mistake thanks for that. I might have made that mistake of too many links on homepage. The links are on every page as they are on the template. I will give it a few weeks then see if it'll be better to take them off...............oh how I wish for the olden days of 2007when updates were daily not so slow.

It is important to note that Google stopped updating their toolbar not PageRank.

Domain Authority, Page Authority, Domain Trust and Moz rank are all purely based on PageRank.

Even Moz claims their tools are dated because Google isn't disclosing PageRank anymore (they suggest they are using Bing now) but if their tools are based on Google's API they are no different than me using their tools are not knowing how they work in their algorithm... I just has to take it on faith that they did.

If they are not using Google's API then Domain Authority, Page Authority, Domain Trust and Moz rank are worthless for Google anyway.
