I don't use that meta tag and would like to hear if it really is important.
I use hypens. I have read in many tutorials and books that search engines like them better than underscores.

Great Article Mano.
From what I understand, the charset META is also pretty important for SEO. If you don't establish the characterset in the head, some spiders have difficulty crawling the pages and gathering all the information properly. Just as a personal example, for my site, during the first few months of it being up, the charset META wasn't there. The page had already been indexed by spiders, but the ranking for the site name was awful, wasn't even in the top 50 for Google. Long story short, I placed the charset META throughout and now my site is number 1 for keyphrase "Advance Mentoring". So I would say it can be pretty important. As for hypens or underscores in page names, I have no idea. But thanks for the tip EGOL, I'll give it a try. Best, Lucas |
