Digg, not such a great seo alternative

A years ago I wrote an article on the seo effects of Digg (before I lost my password!) and at the time the effect of obtaining a popular story there had a miraculous effect on both traffic and rankings.

    Since then things have changed!

For one I've noticed that Digg topics no longer seem to populate the first pages of Google any more.

And the amount of referals has dropped to nil!

Has anyone else noticed this and has the once great Digg fallen from grace or is it as I presume that Digg have perhaps begun to nofollow the outbound links.

I have noticed that I get less traffic from Digg articles than I used to. I still see them on the first page of Google quite quickly after they have been posted, although they do seem to drop out more quickly.

Google Trends does show that traffic to digg.com has tailed off slightly over the last year.

I also notice that the bounce rate I get from Digg traffic is much higher.

I still think its a good site to use to get your content out there.
