Deleting posts with a high bounce rate?

I want to lower the bounce rates on one of my sites which has several hundred posts.

Some have excellent bounce rates and some have 100% bounce rates.

    About 50% are below 45%

I read an article today which said that simply deleting the posts with very high bounce rates would fix the issue, and that kind of makes sense to me.

But what about sites that have the most visitors, long read times and 100% bounce rates?

Any feedback would be much appreciated,

    Michael

    Could you reference that article?

Removing pages with high bounce rate is like curing symptoms instead of the disease...

I'd look into trying to understand why the bounce rate is high (is it ranking for irrelevant keywords? is it not engaging enough? is it giving the answer right away to the readers?) and try to trouble-shoot instead of just deleting the pages

After all, they are obviously getting some traffic, they may have backlinks, etc... why remove your assets?
Everything will be ok in the end

If it's not ok, it's not the end

I agree, no need to remove the posts for this reason.

I'd figure out why they are getting high bounce rates, what keywords are they ranking for? What is the search intent for those posts? Can you modify the posts with the most traffic so that you are reducing the bounce rate?

Personally the last route I would do is remove content as you proposed, look at how you can make that content better and you'll be in a better situation in the long run.
