.com gets priority in ranking ?
Hello guys,
As you people might know that keyword containment in domain name give you an extra edge while ranking for that keyword.. is it true that .com is preffered over .net or .info. Like if I have tuscanytour.com and tuscanytour.net with all specs same... will tuscany tour.com be preffered by google... does domain types really matters in ranking?? Also can we place ads on .info or .biz domains to generate revenue against traffic ? Thanks a lot. |

I have never seen a case where a site was devalued or had a penalty becuase of a domain other that .com . The only reason I would prefer a .com over some of the others is that people tend to assume that is your domain. So if you are example.net, expect some people who type in your url to go to example.com
The only exception to this is if you are in a country other than the US then the search engine of the country will give preference to the local domain (i.e .co.uk) Quote:
I'm not sure the question here, can you elaborate? |

The only things I've seen where a domain name might makea difference is in some sites that I've done recently. These are dedicated ot horse racing tracks in Australia, and all except one are .com.au domains with the other being a .com only. The .au domains are ranking well after only a month or two, and the .com domain isn't going quite so well. Admitedly these are fairly specific search terms, but I get a feeling that a lot of domains that are .com might not have the same instant recognition beause they can be so general.

the extension is not a factor from what I've heard/researched.
Don't worry about it |
