Question Clarification regarding google bowling

HI

Is it possible for a SEO to harm the ranking of his competitors by setting up spam pages that redirect to competiors' website. I ve seen some black hat SEOs who offer such type of services. They claim that googlebot think that it is you competitor who is responsible for these spamming attempts and thus downgrade his web site.

Thanks

In theory no. Google says it can not happen. I have never seen anyone who claims it has happened to them. It would be quite easy to spot efforts to do this to your site and therefore do something about them anyway.

If it was possible I am sure there would be many well known examples of it. To the best of my knowledge there are none.
