    Block Part of Page from Google/Bing/Yahoo Idex

    Hi,

    I would like to block part of a website page from Google/Bing/Yahoo index. Is this possible?

    I found a resource that recommends putting the "blocked" content in an html file, like excluded.html, and using an iframe to add the content to the landing page. Has anyone tried this?

    Here's the resource:

    <snipped>

    Thanks!

    I don't know if you are self promoting or not.

    Your link did go to a 404 not found page....

    Lol. Definitely not self promoting haha. Would you be able to answer the question without the link? Basically the source said to use an iFrame that draws content from an html file, for instance, "blocked.html" and prevent search engines from indexing "blocked.html"

    Simple ...

    Just add the following to your page that you do not want indexed.

    If you control the page and the content, just add this to the page....

    <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">

    If you do not control the page, just do it this way

    <iframe rel="nofollow" src="http://www.example.com/example.html"></iframe>

    Yes, Putting the content that you do not want to be indexed on a page in an iFrame works.
    But if you do not want Google to index the content of that Iframe source you will need to nofollow, noindex it separately at its page level.
    You could also try ajax loading upon users actions on the page.

    KnowoneSpecial,
    <iframe rel="nofollow" src="http://www.example.com/example.html"></iframe> with this, I don't thik Google will not crawl and index the page. It needs to be blocked using a page level nofollow, noindex meta tag as your first suggestion.

    Or you may put all the iframe soure pages into one directory and block it with robots.txt
