Blank spaces in sources code?

I opened the source code for all of the pages of the site i was about to optimize (older cold fusions site)

i found that in every page at least the first 15 to 20 lines were blank with nothing and also half way down the page at around 150 lines again there is a huge white space with no code all the way down to about 3000 lines

every page is like this

will all this blank white space affect the way it is spidered and indexed?

No - Google won't have any problems with this in my experience.

I'd imagine Google just removes all bloat it doesnt need.

I would however clean it up - I like my code easy to glance at and manageable - how long would it take?

so you are sure the large spaces will not affect ranking

I don't think you will have an issue with this.
