Best SEO Stats Software?
Hello all,
Can anyone recommend a good web stats package for SEO work? Things I would like to know about my sites include: a) what one, two and three keyword combos are people using to find my site? b) what pages are being hit, how often and what keyword combos were used for each page? c) when and where did Google visit my site? Is there a single package, or combination of packages that could do this? I currently use extreme tracker, which is nice in that is tells me what keywords people are using, but it only shows the last twenty queries and doesn't associate the queries to individual pages: www.extreme-dm.com I am running IIS 4 on NT. Thanks in advance! Eric |

I just went to the sawmill site and had a look... it can crank out more stats that you know what to do with.
I love numbers but to spend my time on this type of analysis there has to be some goal beyond curiosity. How can I use the data to increase my sales? |

I use the search phrase function to analyze the CTR of keyword terms to see where to focus, also helps out with USER AGENTS reporting (good old google bot) as well as the standard fodder

Sawmill sounds interesting and worth a shot. Knowing what keywords are effective and for what pages is important to me.
Thanks to everyone for your recommendations. Eric |

A cheap (free) alternative to Sawmill
Picked up a Perl script a while ago and added it to my arsenal a while ago. Simply add some code to the footer of each of your pages, and it will track all basic user stats. When you go to the administration program, you are able to spit out some pretty nice graphs about which sites/keywords are referring you the most, where people are going on the site, peak hours and days of the week, visits by month, day, week of the year etc etc...
Check it out, it's called AXS by Fluid Dynamics, and it is completely free! I must check this thing 10 times a day on my site... You can find the script here: http://www.xav.com/scripts/axs/

Web Side Story is like crack to me... I could spend all freeking day looking at the stats it can provide (especially when I tie campaigns into it) If Web Side Story & Web Trends were in Prision together .... I know who would be the pappa and who would be the mamma

SEOChat virgin just poppin' my cherry
Check this baby out - I think it's the dog's b*ll*cks... URL There's no need to add any Javascript (or any other script) tracking code to your webpages - it only uses your server logs to process and generate a comprehensive report. It's the best piece of kit I've seen yet for the money ... It's a Win32 app and there's a free 25-day trial ... Highly recommended. Cheers Nick (And no, it's no my software, I'm just very happy with it!) |

Am I the onlyone manually crunching logs? For fast and simple reports I use Analog/AWStats, but for more specific stuff I dump everything into database (SQL Server/MySQL) and run some saved queries/sortings.... There are no boundaries, no limits. You can access anything.

I'm also processing my log files, but while Analog and AWStats do a fantastic job, they don't present certain stats focused more towards Unique Visitors ... Yes, AWStats does display Total UVs for the time period, but I need UVs stats for Per Page, UVs per Viewing Duration, UVs per Hour/Day of the Week, etc. - Pageviews aren't accurate enough ... I need these stats to accurately calculate my ROI and Visitor Values ... I have been considering posting a Feature Request for these, but I don't know how long they'd take to be done ... Nick |

Maxamine is exceptional at this as well - but well outside the budget of most weekenders, freelancers, and many firms.

This one seems to go out of the context of this thread, why didn't you make a new discussion thread raj_freind? As for your problem.... Simple advice: contact your ISP and report the misuse of your personal profile / web account. As for other general privacy / security tips: * Change your password regularly (at least once a month) * Don't use real words in your password or login name. They are easy to crack * Use SSH/SSL or other means of encryption when possible. |
