Best method SEO for large/various content sites

Hi all,

I'm desperately seeking advice and opinions on the following scenario.

Best method for optimizing a site with tons of varying content and tons of keyword options reflecting that content. Should the homepage and "about us" type pages reflect the more general terms that are reflective of the site as a whole, and interior pages reflect keywords more specific to that page and ignore the general terms that reflect the site as a whole? Or would it be better to use the general terms that describe the site as a whole on each page?

I've always thought the prior, that each page should reflect keywords specific to that page, and if almost every page is different from the next, then so be it, but lately I've read/heard that the same terms should exist throughout. But, is this the best method for optimization for sites that carrying many different products and services that can't all fit onto one page? I think this would cause some loss of placement on certain terms.

Thanks for all the input in advance!

Joy

leveltenjoy, welcome to the forums!

Ok, i was just wondering. Why does this post look like a poll? I can't seem to find a poll in this thread. Is it a bug with SEOchat?

Let every page stand on it's own as far as keywords that way you can continue to grow, why on earth would you want the whole site reflect a couple of keywords, build the site pointing to your homepage but do as you are doing and build each page to reflect that page, Title description, keywords, of course it is better to have several pages on the same topic to help eachother if possible, I am a supplements site and this is working for me. God Bless Joe

I think I accidentally first set it up as a poll then changed. Sorry, I'm still new here i guess.
