Arrow Bad SEO, Can it be Done!!!

I was thinking something different, We do seo to promote our websites now how about demoting our competitor's website.

Actually this question was asked by one of my friend. His point was to demote the website of competitor by placing his website links in several porn sites and other bad neighbours.

Can it be done....?

Please don't take it otherwise. Its just a question that comes to my mind, I never use such tactics in SEO.

This used to be called "googlebowling". It is VERY hard to do.
Even links from p0rn sites carry value, so most likely you'd be helping the site at first rather than hurting it.

PS: not all p0rn sites are in "bad neighbourhoods"

Each and every incoming link will carry something to the site. So even your competitor site is being linked to some pOrn site, it will get something.

Also due to inbound links google generally doesn't penalized a site, because many competitors can do what you are thinking about.

like dzine said, yes, it might help your competitors too because porn sites convert lots of traffic and it is larger than what we do in mainstream. if you want to hurt your competitor's site using link building, you can place his link to link farms. but why wasting your time doing that? if i were you, ill just concentrate more in link building on your own handled site. compete with them fairly because it is more overwhelming to achieve your goal doing fair games rather than doing unnecessary tactics.

you can't really avoid someone linking to your site.. so as long as you don't link to web spammers or bad neighborhoods on the web you don't worry about..

Google and other search engines are always trying to provide as much as possible information (inform of sites) to the visitors. They are not looking for a scope to ban a site - until and unless the site is doing something unethical to fool the SE and the visitors.

So webmasters - should not worry about the sites linking to you or don't think that you can beat your competitors in such way.
