    Hello,

If you are doing 301 redirect then dont worry about backlinks , all the link juice will pass to the new link. 301 redirection means it moves permanently so it is necessoryto do 301 redirect to get all backlinks as it is like before.

If you have redirected your website from http to https, yes it automatically redirects user when someone hits you http URL.

if you still point to the HTTP version then Google will once again become confused over what page should be ranking in the SERPs. ... been a “lightweight” ranking signal – the boost given to sites that make the switch is all but negated by the link equity lost through 301 redirects from HTTP to HTTPS.

This isn't something to worry about! So long as you redirect all http to https URL's properly, the link will be attributed to the new https URL and won't be lost. You will also need to ensure all internal links and external links you control (Social medias, review platforms, company profiling etc) are all changed to https so not to confuse search engines but if you migrate the website properly with no long and complex redirect paths, you should be fine.

As stated above, this USUALLY takes care of itself. If you still lost organic traffic and haven't gotten it back after a few weeks, there probably something else going on. Have you checked for other issues? Could be as simple as a bad SSL certificate.
