Backlinks and inbuilt affliate codes, will it cause a problem with SEO?
Having read about the importance given to backlinks here, I'm in the process of trying to improve them without the need to reciprocate a link from my site (good for your site according to SEO articles I've read).
As an incentive for people to take the time to put up a text link to my site, I was thinking that maybe I could use the affiliate part of my ecommerce site (I'm trying to improve my SEO rather than do Affiliate Marketing btw). As part of the HTML code the affliate would get a link like this to paste into their website: <A HREF="http://www.example.com/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi?rrc=N&pg=splash&affl=billy no mates">Product Z</A> from Good Example company. What I want to know is whether the search engines would recognise the above link as a link to www.example.com/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi with anchor text of 'Product Z'. or whether the changes in 'rrc=N&pg=splash&affl=billy no mates">' (where 'billy no mates' might be one of up to 100s of combinations) would hamper my efforts to improve my SEO? Obviously, I'd change the anchor text after a while, but I want to make it as easy as possible for someone to create a link to us. If you need any clarification ask away. TIA. Edited correct spelling. Last edited by berkswelldirect : October 29th, 2004 at 04:19 AM. |
