    Backlink Analysis Tools

Is it possible to block people from seeing the backlinks you build for your website? The reason I ask is that someone (selling us a service) is making the claim, and I want to know if that's an obvious sign to not to do business with them.

    Thank you.

    It is possible, sort of.

They need to own the domains providing the links or at least have FTP access or can get someone who has access to edit robots, txt file and/or .htaccess file.

However, that only prevents tracking that don't use Google's API and doesn't stop Google's link command from functioning. So it is sort of possible but not a 100% foolproof development.

    Hello Everybody,

According to my experience Backlinkwatch.com is the best tools to check your back links. If you want to block people the see your back links, you can remove your back links form your website.

    Thanks & Regards

Not sure what the point would be to reviewing your backlinks if the BIG PICTURE it to remove them.

    A tad under-productive, don't you think.

Do you mean we need to have the FTP details for the backlinks we added?
Is that possible? I think it is possible only we have our own PBN networks.

(or) I missed to understand your point.
    Need your advice!

Would you say, then, that this company is probably using some type of link farm network?

Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated.

    How would you do that?

There's a variety of free tools out there, you'd have to get them blacklisted on all of those tools?

You can pretty much do anything but it is impossible to do anything if the underlying problems are not fully understood.

You can do an access deny everyone or deny access to link checkers or only allow Googlebot access but no matter what you do you need much more than a "tip" of understanding.

Had a UK-based client that got involved in geo-targeting software, and prevented all US IPs from accessing his UK archive not fully understanding that Googlebot is on a US-based IP, killing all his Google traffic.

Blamed me for getting him penalized... Ya OK DUMBASS!
