Another example of how the Sandbox works

I have a pharmacy site that has been in the sandbox for a year in various different ways. What I have learned is that the Google sandbox most definately applies to word ratios.

When I started out, I definately expected to be in the sandbox for almost all searches of medicine as most prescription drugs on the internet are well documented.

What I learned is that changing a few words can put you deeper into the sandbox.

For example, The site has an active shopping cart with the word "buy" that drops a product into a shopping cart. This word buy appears around 6 times on the page where the various products can be added to the cart. What we originally did was use the word "order" 6 months into the project and what we learned is that the word "order" is not used that much on the net so it was in less of a sandbox.

We can document this with visits to the pages as they went down around 75% when we changed the word to "buy" from "order".

the word "Buy" is much more common on the net than the word "order" so when used in word combinations, this is less
    of a sandbox factor.

    Hope this helps

I think anything commercial drops you in the box. The more commercial, the more sand.

Piss me off, why does G want to punish online stores ?? Surely it can find a better way to distinguish between spam sites and genuine sites ...

That's a good question! I think it's high time for G to find a better way to differentiate between a spam and genuine site rather than throwing both into the Sandbox???

A couple years back I read an article by a psychoanalyst that said the word "Buy" has a negative reference attached to it and that you should use "Add to Cart".

Made sense then, and it seems it still makes sense.

Its not just online stores, but any affiliate site that links to those stores.
