    90% bounce rate

    Hi All

Iíve got one page on my site thatís getting 80-95% bounce rate. Generally my site gets closer to 60% so this is a bit of an anomaly. Any ideas how to diagnose this issue?

Possibilities are... (there could be many more reasons), but with the information you have provided....

They just want the phone number, so remove phone number from the page

The page is crap and offers no useful information

You don't know what you're doing to properly promote the page

Also another possibility that there could be a bot visiting your site inflating your bounce rate.

The page is decent, it gets to position 2 of Google for 10k a month search with 0 backlinks so I'm happy that the content is good, it's certainly better than some of the other pages on my site that have lower bounce rate.

It's a travel information site so there's no phone number or anything that you'd get and leave immediately and the time on page is over 2 minutes on average so I think people are engaging with the content, I just don't understand why they're not moving around the site.

I don't think it's a bot as the time on page is too long and it's always like it, not just today or on certain occasions.

Sounds to me like your web page doesn't have any issues. It is apparently serving the visitor well (since dwell time is long). Problem is it might not be serving your purpose. If you aren't making money on ads on that page then you will have to figure out a way to change the page (if you want to risk it) so that visitors have more of a reason to surf around.

Consider that even though bounce rate is high, the number of visitors is high a well. So even though most are bouncing, you are still getting some good traffic just due to volume. Could be giving you some good brand recognition.

I tend to not want to "improve" webpages that are doing well.

You may not know this but Google doesn't count bounce rate as a ranking factor. There is a reason for that. If the user is searching for a specific term, he landed on your site and after getting the information he needed he bounced back.
So this doesn't mean your site is not good. So don't worry about the bounce rate anymore.

It can be a ton of stuff.
Is it desktop or mobile or both?
    What's the pagespeed?
Is the keyword you are ranking for actually relevant?
Do you have good user experience?
Are you filtering out the bots from Google analytics?

I have worked a lot with bounce rate over the last 6 months on my site. A few tips:
    1. Work on the content so it's easy to read. I suggest a lot of space and short sentences.
    2. Catch the reader by answering the most probable question on top of the page... and then promise more.
    3. Add a video that is max 2 min long
    4. Illustrate the text so it's fun to be on your site.

You should check the relevancy of your content and queries of which your page triggering. That might also be the reason behind bounce rate. Change the purpose the of that landing page. If it is only to share information, I think you should rethink about changing content. Or Add a form to make users engage with the page.

Have a look at the content and metas that is being shown in the Google as sometimes snippet shows different thing visitors comes in and found nothing, Check the engagement with website pages by visitors. Bounce rate is the percentage of site visitors that land on your website and decide to leave before viewing a second page.
Focus on Attracting the Right Audience: Keyword optimization is a crucial part of directing users to your site. But make sure you’re not attracting the WRONG kinds of users. Be cognizant of who your visitors should be and deliver content that speaks to their needs and interests.

    Reduce page load time
: One of the most prominent driving factors for high bounce rates is the page load time. User attention is increasingly limited today, and if a page doesn’t load within a matter of seconds, the user will abandon the site.

    Optimize your content’s format
: It’s common for users to land on a page - a blog post, for example - and immediately become overwhelmed by the post’s lack of formatting.
