    Need guidance on 301 redirection

    Hello all,

    Please help me with this.

I have moved my old domain abc.com to a new domain def.com. I have implemented individual 301 redirection on each from SEO point of view as the URLS on both websites were different.
I have also redirected home page to the new home page using 301.

No my question is Do I still need to notify Google to consider only my new website and not index and crawl the old website?

Is still there any code to be implemented in the server or .htaccess file of the old website.

    Any help would be great!!

    Thanks,
    Nidhi

301 at a page by page level would suffice if you have done that.
But how did you do that? You say your urls are different so did you manualy set up redirects from one page to another? How are they done - at htaccess level?

Don't do anything like stopping the indexing of old website.
Let it be there, Google will only pass on the benefits to the new site if they crawl and find the pages redirecting to new domain.
Also there may be certain pages or sections that you might have missed while setting up 301s. So keep the old sites and monitor any clicks or impressions on the old site in webmasters tool. If there is anything like that - Redirect again.

Yes, all redirections are implemented manually in htaccess file. However when I check for any keyword in Google search engine still the old urls are coming up, though they are redirected to the new site.
