Getting the Most out of Your Blog
Content management systems help businesses, individuals and pretty much everybody else get fresh, easily updated content online in a user-friendly way. Hundreds of thousands of blogs based on content management systems go live every day. Even so, it's pretty rare to see a really professional looking blog, despite the fact that it isn't that hard to create one. In this article we will look at how to use and manage your blog effectively, and hopefully not make the errors dozens of bloggers make.

I read the article and it was very useful, but I still have a question about fresh content
my blog has the comments deactivated and I am likely to only make one or two posts a month. will this cause my site to suffer? |

Welcome Jason! I don't do SEO for a living, so I think others will be able to answer this question better. That said, this is my impression from having read and written a bit about SEO.
Search engines love fresh content; if you don't have fresh content on your site on a regular basis, the indexing bots won't come by to visit as frequently. If they are visiting your competitors more frequently, then your rivals will probably have an easier time getting to the top of search engine results pages than you will (everything else being equal of course, which it almost never is). Anticipating your next question -- how frequently you should post content -- I believe it depends on your field and how frequently your rivals are posting fresh content. On SEO Chat, we post new content three days a week (not counting user-generated content such as activity in the forums and comments to our articles). We do our best to make sure it's quality content. This puts us consistently at or near the top of the SERPs for our chosen keywords. Your field might be different, and you'll probably need to research your competitors' sites to get a good answer to your question. I hope that helps. |

Like most of your articles, I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
However I was left a little wanting for more information about other blogging platforms such as Blogger from Google (which admittedly is what I use.) Should I be using Word Press? I have an account with them, but I have several blogs in different subjects, so it is easier to stay in one place, but maybe this is a bad idea?

I am happy with Blogger and have found modifying the templates very easy and I like the real URL (unlike MSN and Yahoos). However outside of the two other search engine blog platforms, I have not tried much, so my opinion is not based on much experience outside of Blogger. I guess it comes down to the fact that have am happy enough with blogger to not really look around much; "If it ain't broke, why fix it" |

If that was addressed specifically to me, I'm flattered, but this wasn't one that I wrote (though I did edit it). The author was Akinola Akintomide, one of our regular freelancers; I'm glad you enjoyed it. If on the other hand you meant that you enjoy most of the articles published on SEO Chat, again I'm very glad you enjoy what we publish. |

I also use blogger and I find them very helpful when it comes to not understanding a function.
I was thinking about trying a wordpress blog, any thoughts? |
