Do's and Don't - Articles

Now this was requested by Marco, I need some help here from some of the more experianced writers.

DO

Write upto date news

Don't

Report news without adding a new twist or take on the situation

Do

Write consise and accurate informative copy.

Dont

Ramble or fail to offer a informative read.

Do

Match the article to the market

Dont

Try and use comedy or specific writing styles in a market where it would not suit the ambience.

Do

Keep articles between 300 - 500 words

Dont

Write more and still submitt it will either be rejected or heavily edited.

Do

submitt upto 3 versions of the article in slightly different lenghts.

Dont

submit a article without checking the specific guidelines (if there are any).

Do

check for silly little errors like spelling and grammer

Dont

submit without having a collegue check over the work and add any relevant comments. There is no use submitting a below standard article because it won't get picked up by thew publishers.

Ok over to anyone else who wants to add.

Thanks for starting this thread Broker boy.

This is something that i really need to get into and I hope we can get some good advice from everyone here.

Everyone talks about getting more traffic/links etc and this thread could prove very useful for inexperienced webmasters like myself.

Nice start.

Don't
Submit to article directory that has nothing to do with your topic.

In my case, I get submission about credit card, automobile, etc. in my webmaster articles directory. I don't get it. Spammer will do anything including selling comb to bald people (no offense intended for bald people).

Do: Mention your company and include a link to your site.

Dont: Overdue it.... once or twice is probably enough.

If you dare to instruct, it pays to avoid violating your own instructions. Good points, though.
