Darrin I just read your article and found it very informative as I am always questioning "how much is too much". When I first built my site which is a photography site I only had 5 pictures with buttons linking to the different categories. I also had very little traffic. Since then I have added more pages and much more text to my home page for SE purposes and though my traffic has climbed I keep thinking a lot of the text and links are not necessary and wonder if it hinders the look of my home page. What really makes it even more confusing is when I check out other competition some have higher ranks and very little text and others have a lot and still a higher rank. I also found your comment and advise about not making your pages more than 40k a good point as I keep adding on more pictures and making them bigger and still loads fast on my computer but you are right and wonder how slow it would be on a 56k ....I am just not sure how to figure out how big those pages are. I have pretty much built my own site and self taught so there is still much to be learned and find much of the information I learn here to be beneficial.
