Article writing service?

What are your thoughts on starting an article writing service? I've been writing articles for my own sites for years and I'm thinking of now writing articles for people and submitting them for the client.

What kind of prices would be fair? $5 dollars per article 300 words +?

Is this the next link building business? hahah just wondering.

If you wanna do me any articles for $5 a shot... i'll take you up on it, especially if they are written both searcher and SEO friendly.

They wouldn't be for your site though, they would designed to be picked up by other sites with your link in the article, some in the top of the article, some in the bottom...

This would then get you great rankings in the search engines. They would be 100% user friendly, which makes them seo friendly as well.

But main question though is... is $5 too cheap, should it be $10 per article? English is the first language of all the article writers and we would guarantee uniqueness.

id suggest $5 is about right, as you can get documents written on ELance for that

Awesome thanks for that. I'm actually just having a conversation about this with a friend, we're trying to figure out why google might discredit our work eventually, and unfortunately we've found a couple things...

The worst.. if you submit your articles to article distribution sites.. it's most likely that they will be discredited as something like a link exchange, the person who hosts the article won't have written it and most likely just posted it because it was unique content. Which means that article most likely won't rank very well on the other person's website. In some cases we're seeing this type of thing already.

would you not consider writing content on a site for myself? just a keyword rich article for various subjects?

How much time do you put into an article? hrs X a lifetime ownership = ?

Pricing strategies common use:

cost X 2 + labor = ?

or

Labor X 2 + cost = ?

Which ever is higher is the right model.

Assuming cost is a lifetime of publishing credit

elance is no where near $5 per article for anything worth using. There are a lot of India providers there that will do $10 per 300 word articles, but, and having had some of these done, It would not be something I could use for an american audience. The proper "flow" is just not there (not saying I write that well either ) but to get anything good you will be around $50 for 500 word articles. This includes research, checking and double checking that facts are accurate, and gives you a bibliography of the resources they used so you can MAKE SURE you are not using copyright information.

Yes, I would be apprehensive of buying articles from someone charging $5. If English is your first language the $10 is a good start.

$5 for 300 words? Are they getting people off the street begging for money to write for this price?

I would suspect 2 things are occurring:

1. $5 is a good 'top dollar' is some countries where cost of living is inexpensive, and

2. someone looking for an exceptional deal!

Only $5 for 300 words? Oh, this is breaking my heart.

If anyone wants to compare for reference, the articles we run in the SEO Chat newsletter (and they are, by the way, unique content) come in at 300-400 words.

if you can show some good articles you have written, then charge 15 $ and more in order to stand out from those 5-10$ writers and attract clients looking for quality unique content.

A 1+ year old thread... you could wait a long time for a response from the article writers... e.g. NEVER!
