Yes, it’s a horrible pun. But it’s also irresistible -- and so’s the story. Moreover, it explains exactly why Microsoft and the European Union couldn’t come to any kind of negotiated settlement about Microsoft’s competition-squashing behavior. But I’m getting ahead of myself here.

By the time when Microsoft reveals its new search engine, SEO community will be shocked. Unlike all search engines out there which use algorithms to rank search results. MSN search engine likely uses natural language processing and understanding. The two legs of SEO, keyword and link popularity won't go very far. The real question is whether MSN can generate enough traffic so SEOs are willing to bank their resources on.

If this had been 5 or 6 years ago I would be more worried. Internet users are getting smarter and are realizing there is more out there. I personally think that if this product comes out it will take up part of the market, but realisticly it will not dominate the search market. For Microsoft to dominate the search market, they would need to make some very unethical moves in their programming.
