DIscussion: The Missing Link

Well, I found the article to be very well written. Site maps are important, personally I have been using descriptive annotations next to the text link based site map for some time. I also ensure that the descriptions are links as well when relevant.

What I find very strange is that it looks like the old basic search engine stradegies are starting to become useful again, with all the changes in the SEs. I'm not saying that flooding an Alt tag on an image with 100 instances of a keyword term will get you #1 rankings, but some of the basic linking techniques seem to be appropriate once again with the SEs.

Does anyone agree with me?

Google doesn't read text in ALT tag unless the image is a link.

I'm honestly not sure. I've never had that many pages. Maybe a contents, and then a site map for each section.

Are you positive about this? I always thought Google read the atlernative text regardless od whether the image was a link. I might have to some redesigning!

I have personally never seen sub-maps, but your best bet might be to visit a huge site with a PR9 and see how they organise everything.
