The website www.arrivenet.com. Allows you to do that exact thing, whether you post directly to their site or through a prominent newswire. Then they allow you to buy advertising on that press release to create more awareness.

another good way to promote your business is to get an article written about you in a local paper. this is easier to do in smaller markets. an "entrepreneurs in our community" type of article written for you in the local paper would serve as a great marketing tool. i agree with not focusing totally on the larger publications and going after smaller ones. if you go after a smaller trade publication, it can often bring you a more targeted readership.

it's even better if the local paper is archived online.

Hi,

A year ago there was this one company that hired a bunch of adolescents to paint their URL all over town. They got a lot of "press". The paint was supposed to be removable with water, but it was not.

Free publicity in the form of a newspaper article is stronger than a paid advertisement. Most people give more weight to an article about your company than they do to your paid ad. An article about you and your company gives your business an aura of authority and importance.

Getting quoted in an article, as an expert in your field, is a great way to gain valuable free publicity for your business and your website as well.

An article about your business in a local newspaper is especially valuable. Your local target market is right there to read it.

PRWeb Results

I submitted to PRweb.com after reading this article and have to say it provided fantastic results. Just remember to catch those spelling mistakes before you shoot off your PR. ;)

Hey keitht.

It sounds like you are well on your way to some free publicity. :-D

Don't be discouraged if some press releases aren't picked up by the media. Keep sending them out every time you have something newsworthy to report.

Once you get one press release used, the whole thing seems to snowball. One media outlet picks up your story, and then several others do as well.

You're right, check, double check, and then check again for typos in your press releases. :-D

Looking professional counts. A lot.

I don't think press releases are such a good idea ...

You will only have traffic when your article is published .. that
would mean a day or two ...

I think it's much better to concentrate your efforts in optimising
your website to have better SERP .. rather than use press releases.

That's only my personal opinion .. Does anyone else share it ?

Press Releases and Proper Follow Up

Hi All!

Yes, press releases can be invaluable tools when trying to get the word out about your particular product or service. On the other hand, sending releases should be a component of an overall effective public relations plan that includes crafting and maintaining usable press lists and establishing working relationships with those media outlets so they will cover you. Free media coverage can be a great way to increase name recognition of your company but it would be a good idea to consult a public relations professional to help you craft an overall company message as well as short and long term communications plans.

The value of press releases goes far beyond simply having a story picked up. While that is the main goal of a press release, it is only part of the benefit.

A press release, if professionally written and presented, establishes you and your business as a potential authority in your field. Reporters may contact you to comment about other stories in your industry, providing you with an opportunity to show your expertise.

Your press releases can be indexed in your site and enter the search engines that way. They will add to your SERPs rankings that way.

A press release adds possible offline publicity to add to your online search engine traffic. The two may not cover the same prospects.

There is no reason to be "either or".

Use all of the marketing and promotional tools at your disposal.

One of those tools is a press release.
