Article Discussion: Power Linking Strategies and Website Promotion Secrets
More and more folks are realizing that building a solid themed
reciprocal link directory is an affordable and highly effective way to increase inbound traffic. Not only is traffic generated through direct external links, but weight is also given to search engines, as they assume that your website is more relevant. Relevant link building is clearly the key, where spammers requesting any link they can get will lose out every time. What I don't like about this article is that it is too much like begging, and it takes a neither here nor there approach. It advocates link requests, but says don't spam. But a link request, without invitation, is spam.
It also disregards the multitude of other methods of getting links, and advocates teh least intensive, least thoughtful method, and yet proports to tell "Power Linking Strategies". All in all, the article would have been better named as "getting started with link requests: Ettiquette and Procedure", rather than tempting and inevitably dissapointing viewers.

In the spirit of improving an article that is off to a meaningful start it should be noted that the .html extension does not necessarily mean the page is static.
Any unix hosted web site can easily do url rewrites ( like I do on all of my sites ) and Google never knows the pages are scripts behind the scenes. I will say though, most people probably aren't doing it because they don't know about it or don't know how to do it. |

One thing that worries me a little about this article is that it makes no mention of the current Google theories about reciprocal links being bad and *could* land you with a penalty.
