Personally, I didn't think the article was all that helpful. It sounded more like someone arguing with themselves. This exists but might not exist, and so on. Didn't really add anything new.

Interesting article, shame we can't really determine if any of these filters actually exist. If only Google would tell us eh! ;-)

Hi Jason.

Because no one knows for certain what consitutes a Google filter, and even if the alleged filters indeed exist, it would have been dishonest to write that filters were a certainty.

While it would have been easy to write a simple do A to avoid filter B, that would have been unfair to those who read the article. No one knows for sure if there are any filters in Google. Not all SEOs agree that they exist.

What I did in the article, was to provide some ways that help a webmaster avoid tripping any filters that do exist. In many ways, they are all good SEO practices.

It would we nice if a list of filters exists, and how to avoid them, but there is no such list. All the SEO community can do is read the Google entrails, and then suggest techniques to avoid any possible filters.

If that appears to be " like someone arguing with themselves", then that is the nature of SEO.

There is no black and white in search engine opptimization.

There are only shades of grey.

interesting article. that is the nature of writing on SEO. The best you can do is to make reasonable arguement.
