To answer your question about what A9 means: Though I have this on no authority, I would assume it stands for Amazon.com which has 9 alphabetic characters. Amazon = 6, com = 3.

I have been using A9 for a while now. I absolutely love the fact that I can type www.a9.com/searchterm. It those little things that got me to chance my SE of choice. The site info roll-over text is helpful as well.
