What should I do go for clicks or a better CTR

I have a keyword that I use called “gearbox” now this is a very broad keyword and we are actually an engineering company so I imagine a lot of searches for gearbox are irrelevant for us i.e. cars, trucks etc.

Now our CTR for the entire ad group is 3.25% but for this keyword its 2.03% and 19 clicks from 932 impressions $0.63 CPC. The other version is “gear box” and that’s 3.61% and 13 clicks from 360 impressions $0.61 CPC.

Total ad group stats are 3.25% 60 clicks from 1847 impressions $0.56 CPC . This is for the last 3 days of the ad group it’s only a new one.

Would I be better off deleting these 2 keywords??? Although I will lose clicks is it the best option going forward??? Will it improve my overall ad groups CTR and CPC.

Cheers for any advice

The CTR for this keyword seems fairly good, however what you need to ask is how many people are converting through this keyword.
3 days is a very short time to understand the real value of a keyword.
My suggestion to you is look at including negative keywords such as car, truck etc. to the campaign and use Google Adwords Keyword Tool to establish what other negatives you could be using. This should bring the number of impressions down and providing your ad text is very specific should start driving more quality users to your site.

I would test the keyword for a few weeks at least, unless it is burning cash, and then review it. Is there a conversion point on the site like a contact form that you can track?

I think you should use negative keyword phrase for your Ad that will prevent your Ad display unnecessarly... bcoz you've engineering company and you gear box may be used for motors, cars, bus etc.. so you must use to negative phrase term regarding this..

Tracking visitor

Are you tracking any of the visitors to see what happens once they land on your pages. Does one group visit more pages or convert better for you? Are you still making money from every search term. The negative words should help.
