Should i use the content network or not for this set of keywords?
i am running an SEM campaign for sherdog(dot)com. it is a mixed martial arts/UFC site. i noticed that all of my mixed martial arts kewyords (atleast 95%) clicks are coming from the content network. i was also just reading that clicks from the content network dont convert nearly as well as search.
for this category of keywords,...should i use the content network or not? thanks! |

In order to know whether or not you should leave the content network on, since you read that it "does not convert as well," you must first establish what you consider a conversion. Set up your analytics to measure it, and decide for yourself. Conversion data varies across different industries for the Content Network. Some would not get any traffic or customers without it. What is the goal of the site? -Complete watching a video -Sign up for a Newsletter -Eventually Buy Merchandising swag Two other things to think about. Google now provides a site by site report on where they are showing your content network ads. If you set up conversions, you can exclude the ones that do not convert over time. Also, you can have separate bids for the content network. I would say start them lower, but do not completely opt out. For a video site, unless you are YouTube, it is harder to build brand. You have to let the descriptions of individual videos speak for themselves in your ads. Neil |
