PPC can be very effective with the right strategy, keyword selection and ad text. You could easily burn all your budget within hours even minutes if you get this wrong.
Limit your daily spend, choose specifc keywords that relate to your product to start off with, ensure you have negative keywords in your campaign, think about how much you are prepared to spend to get one sale. Get these basics right and then depending on the type of product/service you sell you can start to think about the conversion rates you might expect. If 1000 people visited your site in a day for a cpc of £($)1 and you only had 10 conversions would it be profitable? Try testing with niche keywords and expand.
I hope this helped a bit and good luck.
