PPC effect on SERP rankings? How much?
I heard many people saying that running a PPC campaign on Adwords/ Overture will lower the rankings of the website in the general SERP's of a search.
Is it true or is it is just a misconception by many? Please advice. I am planning to start a PPC campaign. But want to get clarified before putting my hard earned money on that... Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi Spicy,
As jalaj4you stated, PPC has no direct effect on SERPs, however PPC can certainly have an indirect effect on your SERPs. In fact, anything you do to promote quality targeted traffic can and usually does have a positive impact on your SERP. When you send targeted traffic to a website with great content, you will naturally pickup backlinks. These natural backlinks are the type that search engines value the most and will often have a very positive impact on your SERP. When I launch a new website, I typically will promote it with a PPC campaign to get ball rolling quickly. |
