Newbie! Help!!

I posted this in another forum here at seochat, but thought maybe I should put it here as well.

I'm starting a fantasy sports website, pay site, with what I feel are pretty decent payouts.

What I'm wondering is, is ppc the way to go(or at least A viable way to go) to begin advertising this?

Also, would it behoove me to offer a commission on paid entries to someone(multiple people maybe?) to advertise for me? Someone much more experienced in it than I that is. Or, would it be better overall for me to jump into this blindly, and try it myself? Or one more, can anyone here please help me with what would be the best thing for me to do?

Thanks!!!
Shawn

You have to spend money to earn money, however SEO is a better long term solution than going PPC. You should spend most money on SEO, however PPC and bannerads could be helpful in the startup phase. If you have the budget hiering pro link builders could be money well spent. In the web realm there are people specialising in many fields from information design, web design, webprogramming, internet markeding, SEO, link building etc. You could easily spend a lot of money on different services, if you have the startup budget to do so.

Thumbs up

PPC Search Engines are a good way to receive targeted traffic to your site. But you should also try to optimize your site for the major search engines, add your link to your email signatures and also exchange links with other sites.

If you want a list of ppc search engines where some of them give you FREE advertising cash just for signing up to them, then check our sig out!

Hope this helps you in your tracks of advertising!

I have tried PPC at google ... but i saw that you need to spend a lot of money for a campaign
that would bring in some good results. You need to have a good click through in order to have
your campaign running. So the best option it would be to see which combination of words should
you use .. so that you won't have too many competitors ..

But that's only my experience with CPC .. a better solution [and cheaper ] it's too start link exchange
and optimise your site's content.

I'm new in SEO also .. hope it helps

Gabriel

I use google adwords and have found great results. I had the problem with my campaign one time before when I had another site where they stopped running it for my low click through but have a decent click through this time. I don't think it has to be expensive. You just have to play around with your key words. You could use words that are not quite so expensive. The other thing is I only have my ads in the search engine not on people's websites. I think that is more effective. Just my thoughts. I would use adwords until you can get your site better ranked in search engines. I just keep an eye on it and if it starts costing me too much I pause it for a while. Just my thoughts.

I've had very successful campaigns for less than $100 a month.

Granted it is not a hugely competitive industry, but campaigns can be successful w/o breaking the bank.

Negative keywords can also be very helpful in targetting and not wasting clicks and cents.
