Is Google PPC the best?
There are many other companies offering PPC services other than Google. Yahoo is the next closest competitor. Is there a better ROI for the other services?

Maybe, but let me ask you this.
Would you like to make $10 per month spending only one dollar or $500 per month spending $200?

Roi
Yes, that is my point. It appears that Google gives the best ROI on each dollar spent because they control about 65% of the searches. Is that correct?

Google can bring much higher traffic rates for sure... your ROI will be dependent upon your ability to convert that traffic NOT on the fact that you are getting traffic.

IMO you are asking the wrong questions. PPC is basically buying customers. If your ROI is positive why would no NOT use a given service? In other words if Google is making you money why would you even think about turning them off? There is little overlap between Googles market share and Yahoo's or MSN's in terms of individual users so why try to compare them in the way you are? The relative cost per customer from different sources will depend highly upon what business you are in, how well you design each campaign, and your bid management. I would not say Google is 'the best' just because it drives the most business in my market or isn't 'the best' because the ROI is slightly lower than another PPC provider. Taking Bob535's example: "Would you like to make $10 per month spending only one dollar or $500 per month spending $200?" I would answer both You keep buying customers as long as it is profitable to do so. Who cares if one makes you a little lower ROI as long as it is positive? |

Resource Allocation
What is comes down to is resource allocation. I don't have any PPC campaigns currently running and am about to start them up. I am going to start with $1000 per month budget and would like to know if I should stick with Google first because they have the best level of overall searches and clients versus Yahoo for example.
I think after learning a bit more and reading different articles that it is not an exact science, that I should try different methods and be patient with the results. |

If you are starting and need to pick one PPC provider to start with I would personally choose Google as the higher traffic will help you to more quickly identify search terms to target and often results in overall higher profit even if the per dollar ROI is lower.
That said once you have Google up and running and know what words to target etc. I would test other engines as well. |

Logical
That is very logical and I appreciate it. I will start the campaign, learn what works and apply it to the other engines.
Live long and prosper. |
