Include city name in kw if I'm targeting regional?

I'm just starting out with my pay per click campaigns. I'm a little confused as to whether I should include the city name I'm targeting in my keywords if I've already targeted a regional area in my campaigns? Should I include city name in every one of my keywords? Do some with and some without?

To give you a bit of background, this is for a local service business where my prospects are likely within 10 miles of our location. Thanks!

actually, if you include city name you might get lower bid and high CTR. but if you are not include that's fine coz' you set targeted city already user only that city will see your ads.

Hope you success.

Create two separate campaigns. 1.) Structure one campaign using the straight generic terms with Google's radius GT. 2.) Make a second campaign appearing nationally (or statewide), but only when the city name is a part of the query string. For this city name rooted campaign, to be safe, buy both before and after city stems.

For example:

Dallas defense lawyer

Defense lawyer Dallas

I am not sure if Google treats these the same in broad or expanded match, but you should also bid on "+" especially when using exact match. Many searchers literally do type in the plus sign.

Dallas + defense lawyer

Defense lawyer + Dallas

Typically I would label these two campaigns <Insert City Name> GT and <Insert City Name> Root. Creating two campaigns like this will capture more traffic because Google's radius GT is not perfect, and there may be many searching for services for a specific who are not within that area.

And yes, on the second City Root campaign, the city name should be in the text somewhere for more bolding and more perceived relevance to the user.

For the first campaign, Google typically adds the location to bottom on the ad, without you having to sacrifice precious character space.

I like the idea of setting up 2 different campaigns. You definitely want to cash in on the extra targetting you'll get by using local words, but you don't want to miss out on the interested visitors you might get without the local keywords.

This sounds like great advice. I'm going to give a go and ditch my all-inclusive campaign for two separate approaches. I'll see which one does best. Thanks again!
