lol...how would we know why your competitor has stopped running PPC campaigns: * Maybe there are getting their targeted sales and don't need to advertise more. * Maybe they have gone broke and don't have the money to continue the campaign anymore * Maybe the products they deal in are temporarily out of stock and so they don't want to spend money "now" on advertising which won't get them anything. * Maybe they have shifted their AD base to anywhere else - maybe they have signed up with some other 3rd Party Ad network. * Maybe they were experiencing low ROI and hence are in the process of optimizing their site/landing page to improve their ROI the next time they run the campaign. There can be so many reasons for you not seeing your competitor's ADs anymore. However, you can take the help of Spyfu to find out more about their PPC campaigns. Good Luck !

Mate - I think that you are "thinking" a bit too much on something which is not in your control and which isn't going to affect your search marketing campaign in anyway. On a side note: Running adsense and having good organic ranks have got nothing to do with stopping their PPC campaigns. I would suggest that instead on wondering on this petty thing - you better concentrate on improving your website's organic ranks or improving your PPC campaigns ROI. Cheers! |

A plausible SEO theory:
They were an uncover terrorist cell that got nabbed by the CIA and once their credit max'ed out and there was no one making payments, Google attempted to take their fees 3 times but got "declined" and all emails go unanswered.

A possiblity (I highly doubt it though) a competitor can go to a state or city campaign (local search)... They can also prevent you from seeing ads by not targetting your location. ... you can ask people elsewhere to check for their ads or acquire anonymous IP software. |

There is no way of knowing why any of your competitors have stopped using PPC unless you here it from them theirselves. The only thing that I can think of why they have stopped using it is because it was either not converting as what they thought it would or their site ranks well enough in Google now for them keywords that they don't see the point in paying CPC rates when they can just have free traffic from the main search engine index.
