CTR relies on
A quality ad that tempts the user to click., You need propert grouping of campaigns., A person searching Drug addiction might be actually a medical student searching for references Group your campaign like this: Drug addiction Addiction Treatment I Run my campaigns seperately in this format: Camapaigns seperately for search Camapaigns seperately for content Camapaigns seperately for content image My ctr is usually: 8-15% for search .60 to 1% For content search and image |

Delete irrelevant keywords
Is it not better to delete the keywords that are decreasing your ctr. Then if you are not getting enough clicks, input better keywords?

Yeah, Its better to delete under performing keywords.
Its also better to move a High performing adgroup into a seperate campaign. Initially you will suffer some loss due to no quality score, but later they will perform even better as it will get a seprate campaign budget. |

1. Eliminate 0.0% CTR terms, as long as they aren't producing clicks
2. Add keywords into seperate ads and ad content (unless they are 2.0% or higher ctr) 3. Create sepreate ads for EACH keywords 4. Tear apart your analytics and adjust your scheduling to when you get the higher ctr 5. Run ctr reports and estimation tools before adding keywords. Keep in mind, everytime you add or change an ad you lose all historical value, and on better performing ads I would never change them, I would add new ads and rotate them for a week, then select optimize for top performers. |

Yes, good advice! Create seperate ad groups for all your (top) keywords and write copy with that exact keyword in it (good for CTR and QS). Also use the 3 keyword matching types in the ad group and assign seperate bids with broad low, phrase mid and exact high. Last edited by saet : September 13th, 2006 at 05:54 PM. |
