High Click%, Low Sales% - Need Help
I've got an adwords campaign that is getting click-throughs, but is not converting on the sales end. Could I get suggestions as to the type of copy some of you use to increase the sales percentage?
Thanks. |

Take an honest look at your site, is it professional, especiaslly when compared to others in your space?
Do you have the verisign / geotrust logo on the site sayingn that it is secure? Have you had a usability person take a look at it to see if it is user friendly? Does it load properly in all browsers? Are you using a flash intro with no skip intro button? I could go on and on, but whey not just give us then link? |

I appreciate the comments, but I think the problem lies more in the ad than the web site. When the page was ranking high in Google (before being buried behind non-relevant sites), sales were great. I'd rather spend more time right now fixing the ad, then trying to change the web site. |

Sweat,
If you think it's the add, here are a couple of things I can think of trying... Try to crawl in the mind of the person searching... make sure your keywords are attracting people that are in "buy" mode. If the keywords are to broad or attracting info seekers, who knows what you are getting... not buyers. Things like using "negative keywords" might help. I don't know what product your using, but taking "free" out of the mix with this "-" is a good thing... otherwise you are attracking the freebie seekers... The ad itself. Try putting the price of the product in the ad. Try to make it obvious that you are going to be selling them when they land on your page with your words... You may get less clicks, but now you have buyers clicking and better conversions... Just some quick thoughts, Matt |

Are you restricting your bidding to the same search terms that were converting "great" from the natural SERPs?
What was your conversion rate from the natural SERPs? Or did you only measure sales volume? Could it be that the conversion rate is about the same - you just had higher traffic with the natural SERPs? Looking at ways to improve conversions with the traffic you are already receiving is almost always time well spent!

Thanks for the feedback. It is possible that my conversion rate is simply reflective of lower traffic, but I'd really like to focus on the ad - especially since I'm doing some other SEO-specific things to my site and don't want to make too many changes at once.
The ad in question is for clothing; niche clothing at that (e.g. I'm not try to sell Levis |

Different keywords need different landing pages. Match what the searcher had in mind when making the search.
I made a nice improvement in my conversion rate after reading the book... "Don't Make Me Think"... really good book about websites and how people use them. I've read and reread this book a few times and after each reading I cranked conversion up a notch somewhere on my site.

Thanks for the book recommend EGOL. I hadn't heard of it... Looks like there's some used copy's at Amazon for $19.45... Unless you'll let me borrow yours.
...actually the library might have it I bet... I keep forgetting there is a place one can go to get free info... ![]() Matt |
