Adword links effect on natural listings

I have been running adworrds for the past two months and have recently seen a big improvement in my natural listings.

I am now top natural spot for the term "car locksmith". I am running this as a ppc keyword and would would now like to remove these words from my campaign as I am happy with my natural listing.

Is it possible the backlinks I am receieving through the ppc campaign are playing a part in my natural listing boost?

Is it safe to cancel these keywords from my campaign or could this have a nagative effect on my natural listings. I am hoping it is safe to remove these words now but would love to get some good advice on this first please.
