Paid inclusion for free.
Hello SEO bosses,
Is it true that a site is eventually listed in paid search engines and directories through supplementry result from dmoz, google etc,. Or from a website link in a site that is already indexed. Also please tell me how much to charge for generating inbound links and reciprocal links from a client. Thanx a lot in advance.. |

What are you worth? How much work are you able to do for that client in an hour/day? How much a day do you want to be paid? ;). When you've a proven track record you can charge as much as anyone is willing to pay. Hi and welcome too Jane |

You may get some links in paid directories due to a DMOZ listing, most likely if they are jsut starting out. These new directories use DMOZ results to "appear" bigger than they are. Once they have enough of their own paid listing they begin to drop the DMOZ ones.
As far as the bigger paid directories it is a no. They are big enough to not need the supplemental results. DMOZ is great for getting into niche directories without having to submit but if you want to be listed in something like Yahoo's then you gotta pay. |

An "exception" could be the Looksmart directory, incorporating the free Zeal directory listings as well. But you need a non-commercial site to get into Zeal, and furthermore a Looksmart listing won't do you any good in the Google rankings... (I assume that's what you're after, judging by the forum this thread is in)
As far as I know, a Looksmart listing doesn't even pass PR. It is used by meta search engines however, for example vivisimo.com and the derived clusty.com. |
