Question Help - Small search engines?

    Hi,

I'm looking into enlarging my advertising outside of the Google, Overture, FindWhat arena....
Any suggestions of small exciting search engines to advertise in?

    Thanks,
    Ronie.

    A good alternative

    Hi Ronie,

Is there a specific reason why you are looking to advertise in other search engines? Or, are you just scoping for other alternatives? A good alternative I have found for search engines are vortals. A vortal is a vertical market portal. Think of it as a search engine that is focused around one particular subject, such as cell phone vortal, forex vortal, mobile vortal, etc.

Vortals attract certain audiences, showing a particular interest in a particular subject. It's a perfect nest for anyone to post into.

If you still don't know what a vortal is, you can check out www.mobilevortal.com to see an example of exacly how they're arguably bringing the best traffic to websites.

If you can find a vortal with the same subject of your products or services, you could possibly get a tremendous amount of traffic to your website. And, the good news is, most of them are free.

If you want to tell me what products or services you're selling or deliverng, I could possibly guide you to a couple vortals I know of.

    Best,

    Monica

Google Yahoo and MSN comrise like 95% of all SE traffic, focus on them and then the other smaller sites will pick you up in their XML feeds.

    Directories

    Hi,

Yes, you got to try directories, for links to your site. Try about the biggest search engines like yahoo, google, msn, ask, gigablast, searchscout, wisenut, teoma, voila, baidu, information, etc...

But now, directories are the second part of your strategy. Dmoz, yahoo, goguides, joeant, looksmart, skaffe, vlib, zeal are some of the biggest.
    They are very good references.
