Zeal-Looksmart another ODP Style mess
I am so tired of these. Free for the world directories who sell out to a corporation then the company falls flat. ODP did it when it got attached to AOL-Netscape. The "no more Commercial listings" call came down as the corporate side is going to handle it then they drop their support of corporate sites because it didn't make money and commercial sites are left cold.
Zeal Looksmart just pulled this same deal. Zeal still claims that Commercial sites need to "submit via Looksmart" and Looksmart says they no longer accept any listings for addition to Zeal. Nice Catch 22.
Both these directories need to pick up the slack and put the competition pressure back on commercial search engines instead of letting you hang out in limbo. I don't care if you say commercials need to pay a fee but there really needs to be some recognition that the web is in NO WAY funded by FREE sites.
