Yahoo to cancel partnership with Google?

In a German SE-Site (suchmaschinentricks.de) I read, that Yahoo is going to cancel their partnership with Google end of this year, and from then they would use the inktomi-results.

This message is dated 8.4.

Sure it is to be expected, sometime, though I haven't found any other message with this concrete date, so: Is this message true?

10 positions off is not huge when there are over 6,020,000 results!

Yes, but don't forget that most people will not search past the 3rd or 4th page for any search. As a matter of fact, does anyone have any research that shows what the loss rates are from pages 1 to 2 to 3, etc....meaning what % of people will click to the 2nd page or the 3rd page, etc.? Darrin?

I dont think this thread belongs here but...the reason i said about 10 positions, because that represents a page in google. Yahoo lists 20. So keep this in mind. three pages in yahoo is 6 pages in google.

First off, I don't beleive the date is correct. LookSmart and MSN will go there seperate ways on Dec 31 2003, and as far as I know the Google contract with Yahoo is still in effect until 2005. Also I have never read anywher that Yahoo was going to abandon Google. They were simply going to make Google there Secondary provider like Inktomi is now for MSN.

For those who rank poorly on Inktomi, what do you mean? Do you mean you rank poorly on MSN, HotBot or what? Because Inktomi is only the second tier provider for MSN, so you can rank well on HotBot with an Inktomi listing and rank very poorly on MSN. Also remember that LookSmart is the primary provider for MSN, so to rank high on MSN get a listing with LookSmart and add money. Otherwise wait until the end of the year and focus on Inktomi who will soon be the Tier One provider for MSN. Or maybe Google will sneak in and replace LookSmart...never know.

That article is over a month old. And as I stated before no where does it say that Yahoo will try to cancel its 3 year contract with Google. As far as the article goes of course we have read it, thats why this topic was started...
