Yahoo directory submission is plus point or drawback?

I have lost my yahoo organic result due to yahoo paid directory submission.

Before paid directory submission my entire website page index in yahoo database, but after one month of paid submission yahoo drops my entire page index from database. Can any one tell me why it happens?

This is just a brief synopsis of what I've read here - very brief and with no "experience factor" from my point of view. Take it as you will.

A listing in Yahoo directory:

- Costs $299 dollars - no guarantee, no refund.
- Passes no PR to the listed site.
- Causes listed sites' descriptions to change to those written by Yahoo editors.
- Generates a strict minimum of extra visitors.

It doesn't make me want to spend my hard earned AdSense G-dollars in Y's camp.

Why would anybody bother?

Why?

1. "It's a link that also helps a wee little bit in Google, thus Netscape, AOL, and MSN... others." . . . fathom

A link from an authoritive site has got to be worth something. It has been suggested that even Google uses a Yahoo directory inclusion as part of its algo - he||, they use DMOZ, why wouldn't they also use a more respected nod (certification) from Yahoo? Free vetting!

2. "Yahoo results are biased to "sites with a listing" . . . fathom

Yahoo is not "keeping pace" with G and MSN, as measured by me using the excellent DP tracking tool - others (fathom) suggest that this might change if I am in the directory - better SERP results for inner pages - some of my top five results in BOTH G and MSN are currently non-existant in the Yahoo SERPs.

3. "The Yahoo! directory does provide link pop value, it's an authoritative site, it provides some traffic initially and gives you a boost in getting spidered and ranked at the Yahoo! search engine." . . . randfish

4. I just joined the YPN network. I would like to increase my # of impressions, and clicks, from Yahoo! searches, by ranking higher in the natural Yahoo SERPs.

I wouldn't pay for listing in Yahoo directory... I just don't feel it deserves the money.

If I have a great site, with great and usefull content maybe I'll be picked for free, without even know...
