What directories should I submit to?

What paid directories would you recommend me submitting my clients websites to? There are quite a few out there but what ones are worth the money?

Thanks for your input.

IMHO, it all depends on your locality, what your website is all about and what you're trying to achieve by paying a directory to get you listed (traffic, PR, etc).

With this type information, you are more likely to get better feedback.

Good luck in your quest...

Thanks justicewhite.,

My main reason for submission is to get some one way links quickly so that the search engines can spider the brand new website asap. Is this a good idea?

I don't think the locality really matters for this as I am just wanting to get spidered quickly.

The website's will all be on different subjects as I'm doing it for my clients.

Hope tyhat's enough info for you.

Directories can be good for generating a few one way links but to get your sites crawled just send them a decent link from one of your other sites.

Is it worth submitting them to paid directories?

I would think that selected paid directories would be a small part of almost any sites seo budget.

The only time I would consider paying for inclusion to a directory is if it were to bring the traffic that would warrant payment for the inclusion. The vast majority of paid-inclusion directories wouldn't provide much traffic so I never pay. My only excpetion is Yahoo directory.

I personally believe that paying to be included in directories is a waste of money and better spent elsewhere. Especially when you consider the number of free directories that are available. Why pay for something that you can get for free?

Go for Cantufind.com as they already have a genuine page rank of PR5 even after being stuck in the Google sandpit for the past six months. (What I mean by a genuine is they don't use any forums or backlinks, but genuine old fashioned popularity which is what real customers are! Any directory that survived that and still comes out with a PR5 is worth getting on.. I know they are taking all free listings while they rebuild their new directory structure but if you make a point of telling them you want a paid or rather preferred listing then they will put you in the top 5 of your cat regardless of where there's a PR 10 site in there. Judging by how big their last effort was before the trap this directory will be huge and each cat will hold many links that you need to beat on either rank or alphabetical status. The paid method is not know to many yet so take advantage of the inside info.

Cantufind Another one to consider is The Orange Pages Again I happen to know that unlike the zillions of small directories that are springing up like wildfire, these guys have been around a long time. They are about to convert to SEO friendly templates and that will skyrocket thier position. They don't make it clear that they accept sponsored listing but in par with Cantufind.com who they are associated with they are independant and with plenty of $$$ supporting them they will be here in the years to come not like the wannabes, no disrepect to them but when you hit the million or so links the small guys won't be able to afford to buy extra servers to cater for this. Having inside info I know for a fact that the ones I'm pushing do and will be players of note very soon if not already!

As far as i can see the directory has zero PR and isn't even indexed by Google?

With thousands of free directories out there, I wouldn't even consider paying for a link unless it is very high PR, maybe 6 but 7 or higher, or if I felt that the link would produce visits.

Not many directories produce visits, so I would never pay to get into one.

I collect directory site. I've got about 500 directories that I've keep in a list. I haven't seen anything that specifically addresses Insurance quote companies, but I have a number of business and financial directories in my list. Some of these directories might have a category for you.

My list is at http://www.topwebsitetips.com/FreeLinks-Directories.aspx.
