Very disappointed with yahoo

Hi, I wondering if there is anything I can do with the following matter:

I submitted my site to yahoo last week and was accepted. Later, I realized I should have submitted my site to the Australian regional directory. I sent the following email to Yahoo:

EMAIL

************************************************** ********************************

Hi, I submitted my site http://www.coastgold.com to the following category:

Regional > Countries > Australia > States and Territories > Queensland > Cities

and Regions > Gold Coast > Business and Shopping > Classifieds

I didnt realize there were actually two options for submission:

1) Submit to the yahoo Australian regional directory and pay a one time fee of

AUD$ 495.00.

2) Submit to yahoo directory and pay an annual fee of $US 299.00.

I submitted using option 2. I would rather have chosen option 1, the one time

fee - submitting to the Australian regional directory.

Could I change my submission to option 1 ? I am willing to pay any extra money

that is needed. I really wasnt aware of option one, until after I submitted my

site using option 2.

Please Advise

Thanks

The response was as follows:

Response Email

*****************************************

Yahoo! Express Editors are unable to help you with any billing issues. You

will have to make this request to our Customer Care department, and see if

they can refund you the fee and get your current listing removed, so you can

resubmit it to http://au.yahoo.com/. They can be contacted at (408) 349-5151

between 8am and 6pm Monday through Friday PST or at:

bizex-billing@yahoo-inc.com Please have the Yahoo! Express Order # provided to you available for reference.

Thank you,

-Yahoo! Express Team

************************************************** ************************************

I telephoned the above number and was told that there are no refunds. I stated that I didnt want a refund I just wanted to pay the additional amount needed to pay the Australian one time fee payment. I was told that I cant do that. I asked Why, and she said that the Australian and Us directories are separate entities and that my only option was to cancel my listing, lose the $299.00 dollars and re-submit to the Australian directory and pay again. I thought that was really unfair as I was not aware, or even made aware when I submitted my site that the Australian regional directory required only a one time payment. I am a Canadian currently living in Australia and I knew that the Canadian regional directory requires the $299 recurring fee, and I assumed the Australian directory and all regional directories were the same. Any feedback that could help me to understand why my request is unreasonable would be appreciated.

Sorry about the long email..

Hi Carole,

Welcome to the forums.

This kind of arrogance, and unwilling to help is VERY common with big companies (Yahoo, Cnet... etc).

I am not sure what you can do about that, but thanks for letting us know.
May be it will make you feel a little better that after reading your post, many people will avoid dealing with the Yahoo directory, and so Yahoo is going to lose much more than the extra $299 they are refusing to refund you?

Hello,

I am very unsure if I will continue to use the Yahoo directory at all. They should be more flexible with customers and try be more service minded, I have also had a very negative experience, but I rather not discuss it in a public forum.

reading all this makes me think yahoo = secondrate = worthless.

wouldn't it be better just to buy quality PR links instead? how much can you get from a directory?
