There are thousands of free directories out there and a list of the "best" is highly subjective. Some people may classify the best as the Page Rank of the home page but this is usualy a false metric as your listing is rarely ever placed on the home page but some deep internal page with no pae rank and that may not even be indexed by Google.

Others may classify the "best" as years in business but since about a year or so ago when Google pulled in the reigns on directories this may not be a great indicator.

Some may classify the "best" as the quality of the listings. I can almost assure you that directories with tons of sex toy, viagra and get rich quick sites listed will not be the greatest over time.

And finaly other may classify the "best" as a directory that goes beyond just being a directory but that has tons of other great and useful content.
