Strong directory. Good help
In March I added a link to this directory that I first saw referenced in this thread http://forums.seochat.com/t26852/s.html
Nice power. The keyword phrase shows well for some less competitive keyword phrases. The beauty is that it sits below my site but above competitors sites. Couldn't ask for anything more. Most directories never show for my keywords. Add an occaisional site visitor, add link strength...that is about it. This directory does more. I was impressed. Thought I'd share the experience. One wierd thing. The above referenced thread was locked. Don't know why. Asked one mod and that mod doesn't why either. Don't know if there is something off-base on this thread or directory. PM me if you can explain that. In the meantime, I love this directory. Shows for some keyword phrases, gives my site a separate page, and AT LEAST CURRENTLY, falls between my site and lower ranked competition pushing them further down. I'd say we need more directories like this. Dave BTW I have nothing to do w/the directory and gain nothing from it.

I agree - Chemo put real effort into this one.
I bet the thread was closed because the last post reverted to something like "Thanks". I think it was Jason who warned us that directory threads with posts like that would be closed. Shame in this case, because there were some actual questions/remarks in the thread Good reminder - ep. |

That last post could be it. I was a little surprised that the thread was locked. Would like to know if there was something spammy, inappropriate though.
Meanwhile I was so impressed by its showing that I went for a premium listing for some internal pages ($15 dollars) Though they have yet to get those links correct. Like you, Wit, I was impressed by the straight talk when it was presented to us, but a bit dubious at first. Meanwhile it ranks well which is VERY powerful in my book! Dave |

That's a real good directory. Fast approval and generate traffic right away. Highly recommended.

A big thank you for all the positive comments...we work hard to give the best directory service whether the submission is free or premium.
Over the past few months we've secured several PR7 themed links to the directory (2 of them are once removed direct from DMOZ) but looks like they don't have enough seniority to help this update. Given the future page rank lookup tool on seochat the directory is bouncing between a PR5 and PR6. The good news is that all the new pages are going to PR5's including some of the dedicated detail pages. As you know, the dedicated detail pages only have outbounds for the listing so should be beneficial. Dave -> I have received your email about the links and apologize publicly. I passed it on to the editors and for some reason they didn't move on it. I've changed modified your submission personally and will chew their *** on Monday over the issue. I've extended your premium submission to a full 12 months (from the date of premium upgrade). The only upside I can offer is that most of the sponsor listing pages are going to PR5 on this update so there should be plenty of time to make up for lost ground. Bobby |

Chemo,
Great directory, I added my listing to your BD Concepts directory a few weeks ago, however, I can't add to your os ecommerce directory as I get an error each time saying my invoice is already paid. Don't you allow listings in both directories? |

Saw that both additional links were up. Thank you Chemo. I'll get some other sites in there.
Excellent directory. Dave |

Chemo can I please change my entry (the table tennis one) to the deeper url where it's actually located? For some reason I don't like redirects, even if they are my own
P.S.: You made a smart move to populate every cat with at least some relevant links. Nothing worse than an empty directory cat |

Wit...the listing is modified.
The decision to populate with relevant links was for the benefit of the listings. As you know it takes content for a page theme to be established. There are a LOT of pages that are default themed and are no benefit to those that may want to list there. So, I decided to burn some PR and get the theme well established for each page BEFORE the listings. To this effect it has been successful so far. I knew the things I implemented was going to burn some of that pretty PR6 the directory used to have (currently a strong PR5) but they were all done for the benefit of the sites listed. For example, the new listing pages range from PR5 to PR3. The premium sponsor pages range from PR5 to PR4 (some of the earlier detail pages for premium sponsors received a PR4 to PR3 with only the sites outbounds). Also, the recent searches pages received a PR5 to PR3. So, all listings get at least 4-5 good links (category, dedicated detail, new listings, recent searches, and possibly premium sponsor listing) on pages with themed content. I lost a PR on the main directory but overall I feel it will be of more benefit to the submissions. As a side note, once a category has at least 5 sites listed in a category the other default relevant links are disabled thereby giving all the established page content and relevency to the listings. Thanks bud, now at least I got a bit more PR to show and a thumbshot (and I like those - in fact I changed my homepage at one point, to look "non-standard", because of thumbshots) Cool 8)
So, basically it would benefit (the power of your link to) my site if I got 4 more submissions in? Heh - I think I can can come up with some good ones (not mine of course) |

Chemo:
That is a STRONG directory. In my experience, 5 things work in a directory; I'm not sure of the order of them: 1. High PR up front 2. Simple tree distribution. 3. Distributed PR. 4. Content. (I'd guess content is most important) 5. No coding games I primarily run a business. Focus on SEO and the web secondarily. From a business perspective getting the directory seen in money terms is very relevant. It is high powered advertising. I compete in some more competitive and less competitive areas. Some of the less competitive areas are key money terms for my site. The directory shows there and sits above regional competititors. Pushes them down in page rankings. Couldn't ask for more. (haven't even checked the directory ranking for the more competitive terms yet. but right now it is a bonus. Other directories should follow your methodology. Kudo's to you Chemo. Dave |

Thank you for your kind words! I put a lot of effort into garnering the most benefit for the webmasters that submit sites. Too many times a directory owner gets wrapped up in PageRank or making money on premium sponsorships. I do a lot for free...whether it be on osCommerce or my directories...it's all for the good of the community. I have a few other ideas that may be implemented for increasing exposure for the listings but will reserve those for later As a side note (my famous read between the lines disclaimer), a triangular link directly to a listing dedicated detail page has been demostrated to increase not only the PR of that page but also the SERPs. In theory, it is not reciprocal and will only benefit the site listed on that page. I've noticed a few spider referrals from blog pages to detail pages... Bobby |

I thank Wit for "reading between the lines" first. I didn't catch that.
I have to move some sites to new servers and then will triangle in. Triangles also work well for articles. The table tennis area is well populated. Come on now, are those natural or did Wit help on that. I think I can do the same, but it won't get started (for certain business reasons) for about a week or two. Dave |

Chemo updated my directory listing on 4/22. Noticed that MSN spidered and updated its cache of the page on 4/24. Fast work. Spider friendly. My site is 2 levels in from the home page.
